Bio-techno?

I had my first experience in counselling ’pre-teens’ today on choosing a career.
Abby’s nanny who had a teacher teaching at the Australia International School was organizing a career day and recommended me to talk on being a qualified Biochemist.Well,i was pretty hesistant as i was not practising the qualification and am into nutrition advising for toddlers as my career with a FMCG.Anyway, agreed and done..
It was pretty interesting as the children(5th grades) were asking if i played a lot with fine chemicals in the lab.I was also tickled with a question by a boy who asked if one were to ever break some laboratory supplies, will he/she have to pay?Hmmm…innocent minds yet so matured!
I have to admit though that there are a few kids that were too bright for me!A drs’ son stood to ask me what was silver nitrate and i told him to refer to the net for a comprehensive explanation…..which made them burst to laughter!
I guess looking at them reminded me of how children nowadys are so different from us those days. Its all about science ,career and etc now with the broadbands and overwhelming of new discoveries and information technology….when we back then were fooling around in the playgrounds, biking, trekking….life has changed.
And i wonder what childhood and growing pains would be like for Abby in this 21st Century!
