So, your computer is getting slower and slower, programs don’t always load correctly or freeze and close, at the same time losing the last 10 minutes of work. Internet browsing is slowing down and you have to keep rebooting in order to get better performance. You may have first suspected a virus or spyware, and scanned for both with no luck. So, after searching the Internet, you suspect the problem is with the system Registry.
PC runs much slower than when you first bought it
PC keeps crashing at critical times
Unable to remove software using add/remove dialog
PC will not shutdown correctly
PC will not start up correctly
PC needs frequent rebooting
You keep getting the Blue Screen
At first you thought it was a virus so you did a scan and it made no difference. Then you checked for spyware, with the same result. You have run all of the system optimisation tools supplied with windows and that doesn’t make any difference either.
The problem is most likely to be with your System Registry. As you use your PC, add or remove programmes, change settings, move or delete files, create shortcuts, update software and all of those other everyday things that you do, changes are made in your system registry. Only problem is, is that it is not very good at keeping itself tidy and the level of registry corruption continues to increase.
Now you have three options:
1. Fix it yourself. All you need is time and expert knowledge. First you need to back up everything on your PC. Then go to the Microsoft support pages, and search techie forums for the information you need and follow the step by step instructions. Don’t forget to print everything out so that you have the information you need if your computer crashes..
2. Hire a professional to do it for you. Again, back up everything, just to be on the safe side, ask around to see if anyone knows someone they would recommend. Find out how much it will cost and when they are available. Arrange an appointment to deliver your PC and then start to dismantle it.
3. Fix it yourself in 5 minutes using a Registry clean up utility.
No knowledge required. Backs up automatically so your data is safe. All you have to do is select the right download their free scanning software to determine whether, or not, you have registry problems, if you do, spend between $20-35 to get the full utility and clean up your registry. Not only that but once purchased you can schedule your registry utility to perform scans on a regular basis meaning that the PC’s performance will be optimised for good.
It is worth looking at several of the utilities on offer. They all offer a free download to enable a scan of your registry. (The clean up operation is only enabled after you have paid for the product and entered the registration code.) Try a scan of several of these to see the number of problems identified. They vary quite a lot. Ensure that the software is certified for your operating system. At the time of writing, a couple of those on offer were not certified for windows vista. Make sure after each scan that you completely close down that software before trying the next. You may have to look at your quick launch icons and exit the software by right clicking and selecting exit this programme.
After you have completed your research, uninstall the unwanted scanning software (it is likely to reload itself the next time you start up your computer) and download your preferred option, rescan and then select the option to get the activation key.
The rest is easy.
