Eating right for your kids

March 8th, 2008

food.jpg

The American Heart Association recommends this eating pattern for families:

  • Energy (calories) should be adequate to support growth and development and to reach or maintain desirable body weight.
  • Eat foods low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
  • Keep total fat intake between 30 to 35 percent of calories for children 2 to 3 years of age and between 25 to 35 percent of calories for children and adolescents 4 to 18 years of age, with most fats coming from sources of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, such as fish, nuts and vegetable oils.
  • Choose a variety of foods to get enough carbohydrates, protein and other nutrients.
  • Eat only enough calories to maintain a healthy weight for your height and build. Be physically active for at least 60 minutes a day.
  • Serve whole-grain/high-fiber breads and cereals rather than refined grain products. Look for “whole grain” as the first ingredient on the food label and make at least half your grain servings whole grain. Recommended grain intake ranges from 2 oz./day for a one-year-old to 7 oz./day for a 14–18-year-old boy.
  • Serve a variety of fruits and vegetables daily, while limiting juice intake. Each meal should contain at least 1 fruit or vegetable. Children’s recommended fruit intake ranges from 1 cup/day, between ages 1 and 3, to 2 cups for a 14–18-year-old boy. Recommended vegetable intake ranges from ¾ cup a day at age one to 3 cups for a 14–18-year-old boy.
  • Introduce and regularly serve fish as an entrée. Avoid commercially fried fish.
  • Serve fat-free and low-fat dairy foods. From ages 1–8, children need 2 cups of milk or its equivalent each day. Children ages 9–18 need 3 cups.
  • Don’t overfeed. Estimated calories needed by children range from 900/day for a 1-year-old to 1,800 for a 14–18-year-old girl and 2,200 for a 14–18-year-old boy.

This eating pattern supports a child’s normal growth and development. It provides enough total energy and meets or exceeds the recommended daily allowances for all nutrients for children and adolescents, including iron and calcium.

Make Money Online !

March 7th, 2008

There has been in the recent years so many ways to actually make money online. Most of them coming from the con-artists. These people would actually tell you to join a site for a certain amount of money if not for free and you will get paid to actually write surveys or even read some emails. Some sites even tell you to click on some ads.

The only thing you do not know is that these sites have their own terms and conditions which states things such as you would have to earn USD 100 or more before getting your first payment. What you dont really know is that you would earn this amount of money maybe after a year or two as these sites have not much clients that wants to pay them.

Then there are also the review sites for blogs. Most of them only have like 2 to 3 clients a month which will allow you to make like 10 bucks a month. Is it worth the effort. I am not so sure.

I rather make my money the good old fashioned way. Online slots . If you are in the USA then you would know that online gambling is illegal well only 1 site is legal for the USA customers. I think monopoly has always been on their minds. Well there are hundred if not thousands of sites providing online slots . And there are also many sites with the latest technology games that creates fun out of playing.

I would strongly suggest that before you try your luck on these sites to head on over to onlineslotscity.com where you are able to get the latest information and best ranking by players of  the best online gambling sites today .

A Romantic Place For Romantic People

March 7th, 2008

france.jpg

Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world. In my latest trip to the City Of Romance there has been so much going on’s that I thought it should be told here.

Go up!

Everyone knows about the Eiffel Tower, but there are two other ways to get high with your honey. The Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame both provide stunning views of the city.There are few better places to put your arms around your lover than atop these two attractions. Some would even argue you get a better view, because the Eiffel Tower is so tall the city is too small from that height. And at Notre Dame, you get the bonus of being close to the gothic gargoyles.

If you are intending to stay here and find cheap Paris Hotels I would recommend that you try out the link provided.

Live it up!

A short train ride away, visit the luxurious Chateau de Versaille, the elaborate palace of the notorious Sun King. Be sure to take a bottle of wine and a snack of baguettes and cheese to nibble on the grounds. Just a few more minutes further on the same train, you can visit Chartres Cathedral, one of the most stunning gothic churches in Europe.

Once you are here I would suggest that you stay in nice hotels as this is really a lovely place.

Live like royalty!

Want to live it up like a king and queen yourselves? Reserve a stay at the world-renowned (and appropriately-high-priced) George V. Even if it’s out of your price range, pop into the hotel lounge to soak in the atmosphere without emptying your joint savings account.Or truly pretend to be royalty. Stay at a French chateau (castle). The Chateau d’Esclimont is about 45 minutes from Paris, and even has lower-priced rooms that make it within reach for mere peasants. Be sure to eat dinner at the chateau’s wonderful restaurant (and don’t forget dessert, a special treat here).

There are so many hotels here that I suggest a quick search at Paris Hotels would be a very good idea.

Bond with nature, and each other!

Paris is filled with beautiful gardens, and all make an unbelievably romantic setting. Luxembourg Gardens, in particular, is a great spot for couples, and is adjacent to the breathtaking Luxembourg Castle.

Take the time to actually stay in a Paris Latin Quarter Hotels to really experience something different.

Do some very French kissing!

You’ve seen the scene in almost every romance set in Paris: a couple embraces for a deep kiss on a bridge overlooking the Seine River. There’s a reason filmmakers use this image. It’s wonderfully romantic. Take your honey to the nearest bridge, walk to the center and get smooching.

Wine and dine!

There are few things better to savor in Paris than a wonderful meal, accompanied by a delectable bottle of wine. You can also pop in anywhere to find this. Wander along the Champs Elysees until a sidewalk cafe captures your attention.

Walk arm in arm!

Venture to the Ile Saint Louis (near Notre Dame) for a great neighborhood for walking. The tiny island within the Seine has cute boutique shops, nice restaurants and nightclubs filled with locals. Be sure to try Berthillon, a delicious ice cream that can only be found in this small neighborhood.

Jazz it up!

This is one of the best cities in the world to listen to jazz, whether it’s at a smoky hole-in-the-wall or a popular club. Hit any jazz club, snuggle, sip wine and listen to the sounds of Gay Paris!

Most Important !

When you actually plan your visit to the Romantic City of France please do take the time as I have to find out all the interesting places there and get your hotel bookings made earlier to make sure it is cheaper. I made mine in France Hotels which till today I know I made the right decisions.

Insomnia Relief

March 5th, 2008

Are you having problems sleeping at night. My husband has problems being able to sleep at night. Most of the time he would watch the TV till he doozes off. And even so he wakes up in betweens with no apparent reason. Then he finds it very difficult to wake up in the morning unless he knows that he has to. If he has a meeting or he has to go to work then he will surely wake up. But this gives him maybe only 4 hours of proper sleep every day. This could be very harmful to your life.

One of the main reasons that I think he cant sleep well at night is due to stress. This excerpt taken from a site regarding insomnia is what I found out about stress and insomina.

“Insomnia can also be a symptom of post-traumatic stress disorder — there may have been a single traumatic event such as an accident or some longer-running problem in your life — or other psychological conditions. Leaving all these underlying problems untreated is bad enough on its own. But the results of sleep disruption mean that your performance at work falls away, and you are also likely to run into relationship problems. In short, your whole life may be in free fall but you just have not noticed it. ”

Recently being aware of these problems I have searched medical opinions on this subject and in particular one name of a medication kept popping and it is Ambien . How does Ambien works you might ask me well a quick visit to one of the sites which is very informative on this drug gave me this answer.

“Ambien is an imidazopyridine derivative available on prescription in most countries, and it works as a nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic to treat insomnia and some other conditions. When taken, it acts as a rapid-onset, short-duration drug to interact at the benzodiazepine recognition site in the brain. The active component of the drug works in combination with Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA) — a natural brain chemical that serves as a neurotransmitter to communicate signals, and amplify and modulate those signals between a cell and an adjacent neuron. The combination of Ambien and GABA works to reduce the general level of electrical activity in particular areas of the brain associated with sleep. Because brain activity drops, you are more likely to fall sleep. ”

Are there any ambien side effects if you are going to take it. Like all sleeping pills there is always side effects which differs from every individual. Here are some of it ;

  • a general feeling of drowsiness that does not clear quickly. It may be accompanied by headaches, some dizziness and a slight lack of coordination when you are moving around;
  • any weakness that is not transient, perhaps accompanied by a slight trembling in your limbs;
  • changes to your appetite or problems with your digestive system. You may find yourself getting heartburn or your stomach may be tender to the touch. You may get more gas than usual or suffer from either constipation or diarrhoea;
  • any sensations of burning or tingling, muscular aches or pain in your neck and back;
  • any unusual dreams; or
  • heavy menstrual bleeding.

In other cases if you get swelling or difficulty in breathing then immediately see a doctor. And always remember that you would have to inform your doctors on the medications that you are taking especially if you are going in for surgery and the need arises that you have to use anaesthetics.

Casino Listings

March 3rd, 2008

If you ever feel the urge of getting to an online casino here is a site that really has all the information that you would need to know before you start rolling the dice or even getting the beer ready next to your pc. There are so many online casinos today that it is very difficult to choose which would be the best to try your luck on. And even if you think one of them is good enough for you, you would still need to know the basics of online gambling before you even start.

This site has all that information and more. Dont you want to know how you could get your hands on free money to even start off with. There are some casinos that have a start up bonus. Some of them even give you up to USD800 to start off with. Of course there is a catch to why they are giving you so much money to start with. When you are actually signing up with an online casino you would have to deposit some money with them. This is the money available to you for your usage when you start on the table or even on the slots.

The amount that you should receive as a bonus would commensurate with the amount that you put in as a deposit. Some sites have different ways of giving out these bonusses and you would be able to find out more from this site. In fact this site has also reviews of each and every online casino. These reviews are either given by the editor or even by the customers of the casino. You are able to see their reviews or even see how they rate the website.

Each website is rated on many criteria such as customer service, look and feel, navigation, games and so much more. They even will tell you what is the payout rate of a website. Some goes even as high as 98% . There is so much information to fill your head with that you might get a headache even before you start your round of poker. So what I suggest is go to this website first. Find out as much as possible. Get a cold beer out of the fridge then choose your game. Sign in and start raking in the cash.
