Motion sickness?

December 30th, 2007

gingerjuice.jpg

I got off the plane this morning…and boy;my head was spinning…i had hold up all the ‘nausea’ in me as i had Abby to care for during the 3 hour flight back from Labuan,Malaysia.Since my early days;i had always been “Miss Vomit” to my siblings ..plastic bags on standby n tissue papers:(….long distance car rides back to my hometown were horrid  and sea-trips tops the list in my “Book Of Puke-Trips”.I heard its in the genes….but somehow;i was the only one in my generation that had motion sickness! I hope Abby doesnt inherite this trait but if she does;then i’ve got a few tricks i’ve learnt to keep it at bay!

So ;for those of you that share this ‘Motion Sickness’ with me;here are a few tips WHICH ACTUALLY WORKS!!!

1) Ginger juice! Traditionally proven to ‘heat’ that tummy and create an acidic-alkaline pH that ‘calms’ the nausea…

2) Novomin!!! It makes you drowsy…..but you wont get nauseated…the only side effect is that it tends to make you hungry!!!

3) Good company..! Having friends or families around and talking to them during car/sea/plane trips actually keeps your mind busy and somehow;-you wont get nausea!

4) Pickled fruits/Sweets/Salted fruits!  These nickknacks actually are the “little heroes” that is mobile and compact which gives you something to munch on and forget about vomitting!

Why it is best for your baby Breast feeding provides many real advantages your baby would otherwise not get. Here are some:

  • Breast milk provides the best nutrition for your baby. It contains all the nutrients in the right proportion and its composition changes with the needs of your growing baby.
  • With breast milk, especially colostrums, your baby’s immunity is strengthened. This means excellent protection against infections like diarrhea, colds, bronchitis and pneumonia.
  • Breast milk also prevents various allergic disorders like asthma, eczema and infantile colic.
  • Breast milk contains certain nutrients which are critical for brain development.
  • It reduces the chances of contamination which can occur in other forms of feeding.
  • Your milk is easily available at any time, unlike other milk. So there is no inconvenience of preparation or heating as it is always at the right temperature too.
  • Provides comfort and emotional security for your baby.
  • Enables mother and baby to interact more fully than other forms of feeding, resulting in a closer bond.

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated on Thursday as she left an election rally in the city of Rawalpindi, putting January 8 polls in doubt and sparking anger in her native Sindh province.

State media and her party confirmed Bhutto’s death from a gun and bomb attack.

“She has been martyred,” said party official Rehman Malik.

Bhutto, 54, died in hospital in Rawalpindi. Ary-One Television said she had been shot in the head.

News of her death brought a swift and angry reaction from supporters in Sindh and its capital, Karachi, where fires were set, shots fired and stones thrown.

“Police in Sindh have been put on red alert,” said a senior police official. “We have increased deployment and are patrolling in all the towns and cities, as there is trouble almost everywhere.”

President Pervez Musharraf condemned “in strongest possible terms the terrorist attack that resulted in the tragic death of Bhutto and many other innocent Pakistanis,” the state news agency said.

“The president convened a high-level emergency meeting … soon after the tragic development.

“He urged the people to stay calm to face this tragedy and grief with a renewed resolve to continue the fight against terror,” the APP news agency said.

HUGE QUESTIONS

The assassination, 13 days before an election which Bhutto had hoped to win, throws up huge questions for this nuclear-armed U.S. ally already struggling to contain Islamist violence.

Musharraf, whose popularity has slumped this year, could decide to postpone the vote and reimpose a state of emergency that was only lifted on December 15 after six weeks.

“It does cast a shadow over the election and it raises some concerns over how the government might deal with any popular reaction to this,” said Jennifer Harbison, head of Asia Desk at Control Risks, London.

“There is the potential that her supporters could take to the streets and that is something that will be difficult for the government to address without at least considering a return to emergency rule.”

Police said a suicide bomber fired shots at Bhutto as she left the rally venue in a park before blowing himself up.

“The man first fired at Bhutto’s vehicle. She ducked and then he blew himself up,” said police officer Mohammad Shahid.

Police said 16 people had been killed in the blast, which occurred during campaigning for the national election. A Bhutto party spokeswoman, Sherry Rehman, was hurt in the attack.

“It is the act of those who want to disintegrate Pakistan because she was a symbol of unity. They have finished the Bhutto family. They are enemies of Pakistan,” senior Bhutto party official Farzana Raja told Reuters.

Bhutto’s father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was Pakistan’s first popularly elected prime minister. He was executed in Rawalpindi in 1979 after being deposed in a military coup.

High PR with LoveLinks

Do Follow Bloggers

This is a list of blogs that have removed the tags from the comment area on their blogs. By removing this tag, or using the Do Follow Wordpress plugin to remove the no follow tag, these bloggers are making the links that their visitors leave when they sign a comment count towards backlinks for their site.

The more “real” links that you have on websites, the better for your site as the search engines will count these links towards your sites popularity and it might help boost your sites page rank too.

Update July 31: This site and our other blogs are now Using Lucia’s Linky Love do follow plugin. This is a wordpress plugin. I do not know of any plugins for other blogging platforms. There’s been a rash of human generated comment spam and this new plugin allows you to set how many comments a visitor needs to leave (with same domain url) before their comment link will follow. You can reward your regular loyal readers much better with this plugin.

Important - This site uses Lucia’s Linky Love plugin - that’s why the links do not follow for those who are visiting this site for the first time and have only left a couple of comments. I’ve been getting snarky comments lately about this site not following and that’s simply not true.

Note: Many of the comments below are from new visitors so they do not follow. If the person has become a regular visitor their comments will follow when they’ve left enough comments on this blog. - end Update

Leave a comment or send me an email (dragonden AT rogers DOT com) if you’d like to join the list. Please state in your email that you’d like to get on the blogroll. Some people just write to tell me that they are a Do Follow blogger and I’m not sure that they want to join the blogroll or not. LOL

I have an email with full instructions on adding a blogroll to a number of different types of blogging software, all you have to do is follow the directions!

You must not use the no follow tag, and you must be willing to place the blogroll on your site in order to join.

Your site should also have a fair amount of regular posts and not be too young. I’ve had a number of people asking to join the list and their site is brand new with only two or three posts. I want active sites on this list and a site with only a few posts on it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll still be posting in it next month. However a site that has three solid months of regular posts is probably written by a blogger who will continue to work on the site. So please, make sure your site has a lot of regular posts in it before you apply to join the list.

Also - if your site has comments closed to only registered members, only blogspot members or members of a particular site (ie xanga, livejournal) they cannot truly be considered a nofollow blog as the link would only go to their profile and not their actual site. Moderated comments are fine, but as I said, comments closed to site membership do not qualify.

I shouldn’t have to say this, but I’m only accepting blogs on the blogroll - not websites. Your blog should also be written in English or have a large portion of English posts as the majority of Do Follow List members have blogs that are written in English.

Also, if you are leaving me a comment but haven’t yet added the blogroll to your site, or learned how to take the nofollow tags off your blog - please don’t include a list of your blogs in your comment. Comments that include several links go to spam and it’s a little more work to pull them out of spam and reply to them. Also .. if you list your sites I tend to check them .. if I don’t really have to do that yet I’d rather wait until you are all ready for me with blogroll and “follow” tags in place. Thanks!

This page was originally created in April of 2007, but I respond to the comments that are left almost daily. Do not be afraid that you are leaving a comment on an old post that won’t be read. I reply to almost all comments.

** Also, if by chance you join the list and decide to go back to being a nofollow blog at a later date please have the courtesy to tell me. Please?

If you’d like to use one of these logos above your copy of the blogroll, or in your link to your Do Follow blogroll page please feel free to save the one of your choice to your computer. Do not link to the image - that’s hotlinking and I will not appreciate it at all. Just right click over the image and save it to your computer and then upload it to your server. Ok?

here are your choices:

This can be done through an internet network marketing program and by applying better web development techniques. You can go for adsense marketing on the different websites to increase traffic. You can go for new techniques like search engine optimization to make the rank of your website better. For example pay per click search engines and online advertising provides web site owners the opportunity to buy their way to better positions on search results pages.

Blogging The Secret Weapon by AGA

December 24th, 2007

What differentiates your blog. What attracts people to blogs is more about the person behind the writing than the actual writing itself. Try checking out all the top blogs and they are personality driven. What I mean by that is it is the brand of the author that transcends the content itself. Of course the content goes a long way to developing the online brand of the author, but when it is established the content is less important.

I hesitate to say that it is the personal brand of the author, rather it is the online persona which is created and used to market the blog. This is why companies and corporations have a hard time blogging, it’s all about online personality, conversely this is why a lot of blogs are boring.

I’m sorry to say this, well not really. But most people are average, normal and boring. Not that there is anything wrong with that, some of my best friends are average, normal and boring. When it comes to reading something, people want a bit of spice, a bit of pazazz, even when it’s around factual based information.

Making money from blogging can be done, I havent made anything from this blog so far but I make a lot with it. Starting a blog these days, even in a narrow niche is difficult because of the amount of competition out there. A lot of the blogs espousing problogging as a way to get rich got their readership back in the days of when the it was all wide open plain and you could stick your flag in the ground and build your blog empire.

But a blog is a fantastic tool if you use it to market what you already have. The point is, there is an easier way to make money using a blog than simply picking a subject, slapping on the advertising and building a readership.

My point is, you can learn all the tricks in the books, learn everything about blogging there is to learn (it’s a good idea to do that), but at the end of you day it is YOU who will be making the difference. You will be the reason why people will come or ignore your blog.

Just because you want to be a blogger doesn’t mean you will be a good one. From looking at the amount of blogs out there I would say you have 1 chance in 100. In that for every 100 blogs started only one is worth it.

But if you have the cajones? If you have that little twinkle in your eye. If you simply wish to succeed no matter what it takes. You should remember your secret weapon. YOU!

Do not be afraid of leaking your personality all over your blog. I’m not. And yes it may mean objectivity may be compromised, but people do not go to a blog for dispassionate, bland facts and figures. They visit to read what someone has to say.

Whatever you say, say it with a little style, a little panache. Shout it from the rooftops. Make sure people know what you think. Dare to challenge the status quo. Stir it up a little, take on a bully or two.

Ultimately, be yourself.
